AbstractAn experimental investigation has been carried out to study the effects of pulsations on the heat flux to the combustor wall. Pulsating combustion increases the amount of heat that is transferred through the combustor walls.This fact is important mainly in boiler processes. This work shows some results obtained by means of energy balance in two configurations of a laboratory Rijke pulsating combustors. The fuels utilised in the experiments were liquefied petroleum gas, ethanol, and charcoal. The results indicated a 20% increase in the heat fluxes compared to the nonpulsating process. A relation between oscillations conditions (amplitude and frequency) and heat transfer rates was also observed.
